The Macquarie Mausoleum stands at on the Gruline Estate on the Isle of Mull in the Inner Hebrides and in Argyllshire.
The Mausoleum is a tomb and monument to Lachlan Macquarie, who was born nearby at Ulva Ferry in 1761. He rose to become Governor of New South Wales, and such was his effect on the development of the new colony that he is known as ‘the father of Australia’. The Mausoleum stands on the Gruline estate, which he owned.
The Mausoleum was acquired and restored by the National Trust of Australia, and is managed on its behalf by the National Trust for Scotland.
