The Lyne Water

The Lyne Water is a river of Peeblesshire and a tributary of the River Tweed. It gives its name to a number of villages and features along its course.

The Lyne Water rises in the Pentland Hills, emerging from Baddinsgill Reservoir. It runs through West Linton (which is named from the river) and Romannobridge, then passes Flemington and, flowing below the village of Lyne, reaches Lyne Station, and very soon enters the Tweed to the west of Peebles.

The Lyne Water floods regularly in winter and occasionally in summer. There is free fishing above Flemington Bridge, and below Flemington the river is part of the Peebles fishing authority.
