Kilmonivaig is a small village and extensive parish in Inverness-shire. The village is situated close to the southeast end of Loch Lochy to the west of Spean Bridge. Fort William lies approximately 15 miles south-west of Kilmonivaig.

The length of the parish from south to north, is about 60 miles, and its greatest breadth is 20. It is bounded by the parishes of Kilmallie, Fortingall (in Perthshire), Laggan, Boleskine and Abertarff, Urquhart and Glenmoriston, Glenshiel (in Ross-shire) and Glenelg. The parishes of Kilmallie and Kilmonivaig were anciently united, and called the parish of Lochaber, but they were disjoined about the beginning of the eighteenth century.
