Iscennen is one of the hundreds of Carmarthenshire, located in the east of the county, adjacent to the border with Glamorgan. It is bounded to the south-west by Carnwallan; to the west by Kidwelly Hundred; to the north-west by Elvet Hundred; to the north by Cathinog; and to the north-east by Perfedd. It had a population of 33,016 in 2011.
It comprises the following ancient parishes:
- Bettws
- Llanarthne
- Llandeilo Fawr (Glynamman, Bryn-y-Beirdd, Pentre Cwm, Trecastle and Tregib)*
- Llanddarog
- Llandybie
- Llanfihangel Aberbythych
*: Remainder in Cayo and Perfedd hundreds.
