Across the Inner Sound to Rona and Skye
Location of the Inner Sound

The Inner Sound is a strait separating the Inner Hebridean islands of Skye, Raasay and South Rona from the Applecross peninsula of Ross-shire, on the mainland of Great Britain .

The name of the Sound in the local Gaelic language is An Lighe Rathairseach, from the island of Raasay which lies along the Sound's western side. This name very similar to the name given to the straight on the west of Raasay, An Linne Rathairseach (known in English as the Sound of Raasay). Together, the two sounds, the Inner Sound and the Sound of Raasay, may be considered as southeastern arms of the Little Minch.

BUTEC, a Royal Navy submarine sensor and emissions range, is emplaced in the Inner Sound.
