Warwickshire

The Warwickshire flag is the flag of the county of Warwick. It was registered with the Flag Institute on 15 August 2016 making it the 44th registered British county flag.[1]

Design

The design features the traditional bear and ragged staff used in the county since the Middle Ages and appearing in the modern era on the insginia of many county bodies. A bear features as the emblem of the local constabulary, the local cricket team and the county football association. The bear on this 21st century flag has been freed of the mediæval muzzle and chain found in earlier depictions of this symbol. The design was taken up by the Warwickshire Association as their proposal for the county flag, which with the backing of county bodies, including the High Sheriff was registered on the 15 August 2016.
