The Caen Hill locks, on the Kennet and Avon Canal, Devizes, Wiltshire, England, in early Spring. The sixteen locks of Caen Hill (here seen from near the top), and a further 13 locks, stretch over only 2 miles of the canal. The large side ponds are not seen here. The building of these locks in 1810 marked completion of the whole 57 mile distance from Newbury to Bath.

Photographed by Adrian Pingstone in March 2007 and placed in the public domain.
