Summary

Description
English: Armadale Pier, Isle of Skye. Armadale Pier before it was altered in 1994 to create a linkspan for ro-ro car ferry operations. (If the photo were taken today, you'd almost be standing on the linkspan (ramp) leading down to the car ferry.) The boat is the Shearwater which was the passenger ferry from Arisaig to the Small Isles from the '70s. The "Shearwater" started life as a Harbour Defence Vessel and was used in the D Day landings, she remained in active service until 1958. A new Shearwater is now on that run.
