Elstree is a village in Hertfordshire. It is divided into two parts; the original village is Elstree Village, a compact area around the crossroads of the High Street (Elstree Hill) A5183 (the original A5) and the Watford Road/Barnet Road A411. The bulk of Elstree is the newer development to the north-east and which is contiguous with Borehamwood. The names of "Elstree" and "Borehamwood" are often used interchangeably. The area of Borehamwood to the west of the railway line, formally Deacon's Hill, is colloquially called Elstree even though it is not contiguous with the village.

Overall, Elstree has a population of 4,765.[1]

Elstree is served by Elstree and Borehamwood railway station.

The village is best known for the Elstree Film Studios, where a number of famous British films were made and which is still home to television productions. The presence of the studio has meant that Elstree has been home to everal famous names from cinema, including Anna Neagle, Stanley Kubrick and Joan Collins. The actor Tom Chatto was raised in Elstree, as was Simon Cowell.

Nearby Aldenham Country Park is both a recreational facility and a breeding centre for rare livestock.

Elstree Aerodrome is used by light aircraft. It has a 2,150 foot paved runway.

Elstree Village

Elstree Village is the original village. It is clustered around the crossroads of the High Street (Elstree Hill) A5183 and the Watford Road/Barnet Road A411. The parish church, St Nicholas [1], stands here, the oldest church in Elstree and Borehamwood.

Elstree Village stands on the boundary of four ancient parishes, two of Hertfordshire and two of Middlesex. All four meet at the crossroads along the Barnet Road, with the Herfordshire parishes of Aldenham and Elstree to the north-west and north-east; and the Middlesex parishes of Little Stanmore and Edgware to the south-west and south-east respectively. The village's new residential roads and Centennial Business Park lie on the Middlesex side.
