East Gilling Wapentake shown within the North Riding and Yorkshire

East Gilling is a wapentake of the North Riding of Yorkshire, adjacent to the border with County Durham. Surrounding wapentakes are West Gilling to the west; Allertonshire to the east; Birdforth and Hallikeld to the south; and Hang East to the south-east. East Gilling had a population of 9,401 in 2011.

It comprises the ancient parishes of:
