Dunkirk is a hamlet in the rural north of Gloucestershire, south-east of Hawkesbury Upton. The hamlet is on an important T-junction where the A46]] (which goes from Bath in Somerset up to Nailsworth and Stroud) meets the A433 (which goes towards Tetbury and Cirencester).

There is another 'Dunkirk' nearby too, near Nailsworth, also on the A46 in Gloucestershire, and the site of Dunkirk Mill.[1]

The hamlet of Petty France is directly to the south. Previously, Petty France and Dunkirk were known as road accident hotspots, and as a result of this a speed limit was imposed through the two hamlets, at 40 mph.
