Duneaton Water and Mountherrick Hill

The Duneaton Water is a small river of southern Lanarkshire which is a tributary of that county's greatest river, the River Clyde.

The Duneaton Water rises in the slopes of Cairn Table, a hill on the border of Lanarkshire and Ayrshire, and flows eastwards into the woodland of the hillsides. Continuing east, it passes barely a house and never a town in its whole course, passing close by Crawfordjohn, the only village near the water, where once there stood a mill on the river.

A few miles on, the Duneaton Water passes under the M74 motorway and after a mile it discharges its waters into the River Clyde north of Abington.
