In Dinefwr Park

Dinefwr Park National Nature Reserve lies about a mile from the centre of Llandeilo in Carmarthenshire.

The park is owned by the National Trust and is maintained as a nature reserve – a rare parkland nature reserve.

The park has valley views and a chance to see fallow deer and rare white park cattle throughout the year. The latter are reckoned to have been present in the area for over a thousand years, and make appearances in certain Welsh mediæval texts.

The estate slopes down to the level fields of the River Towy floodplain, where small lakes lend interest to the landscape.

Newton House

Dinefwr Castle, which is managed by Cadw, and Newton House (National Trust) are to be found in the grounds of the park.
