Bunkle and Preston
Bunkle and Preston is a parish in eastern Berwickshire, containing the hamlet of Bunkle and village of Preston. It is bordered on the north by the parishes of Abbey St Bathans and Coldingham; on the east by the parishes of Coldingham and Chirnside; on the south by the parishes of Edrom and Duns; and on the east by the parishes of Duns and Abbey St Bathans.
The main road through the parish is the A6112 from Coldstream to the A1 at Granthouse. At Preston, the road passes over the Category-A listed Preston Bridge over the Whiteadder Water. There are a total of 28 listed structures in the parish, with both Bunkle Old Kirk and Preston Bridge listed in Category A.
The population was recorded as 691 in 1775 and it peaked at 787 in 1821. By 1971 it had fallen to 324.
