Ben Cleuch is a mountain in Clackmannanshire, amongst the Ochil Hills. It is the highest point in the Ochil Hills, and the highest point too in Clackmannanshire, rising to 2,365 feet.
Ascents
Ben Cleuch can be climbed conveniently from either Alva or Tillicoultry.
From Alva, one may drve close to the hill at the Ochil Hills Woodland Park off the A91, where there is a car park whence a path leads on up, though from here Ben Cleuch is as yet invisible behind Ben Ever. The initial route leads through pretty woodland. Over the Silver Burn the path leaves the wood and meanders up the hillside; a steep climb in places, and takes the walker first up Ben Ever, at whose top Ben Cleuch is revealed: not a spectacular fell in itself but well worth the climb for the views from its own summit.
Ben Ever has two slightly separated small cairns at equal height, and beyond the way descends for a while before a haul up the incongruously rocky slope of Ben Cleuch.
The summit of Ben Cleuch has a trig point, a viewpoint indicator and a rough stone-built wind-shield.
To climb from Tillicoutry, the Mill Glen leads up; a steeper climb than that from Alva.
