File:St Cynog's Church, Battle

Battle is a hamlet and ancient parish in the Merthyr Hundred of Brecknockshire, three miles north-west of Brecon.

The manor belonged to the priory of Brecon. Here was the scene either of the battle between Robert Fitzhamon and Rhys ap Tudor, or the battle at the invasion of Brecknockshire by Bernard Newmarch.

The Battle standing stone is an impressive Bronze Age monument 13 feet in height.[1]
