Barmby Moor is a village in the East Riding of Yorkshire, sitting a mile and a half west of the market town of Pocklington and twelve miles east of the county town, the City of York. The village is north of the A1079 road where it is met by the B1246 road that passes through the village.
The 2011 census recorded a parish population of 1,114.
The village was originally a market town with a coaching inn.[1] It has a parish church, a chapel, village hall and a primary school. There is also a post office and a pub, The Boot & Slipper. The church and the Manor House are Grade II* listed buildings.[2][3]

Church
The parish church is St Catherine's Church. The present nave was built in 1850-52 but the church it replaced was Norman and the tower remains the oldest part of the building. Following the rebuilding, not a single item from the furnishings and fittings of the medieval church remains. In the churchyard there is a monolith (or hoar-stone) a few yards south of the main door entrance.
There is an associated Church of England school, Barmby Moor Primary School, whose governors are appointed by the church.[4] The school maintains close links with St Catherine's Church and other church schools within the Diocese of York.
Events
Each July a traditional fete – the Barmby Feast – is held in the village.[5]
