Baggrow is a small village in the parish of Allhallows, in the north of the Cumberland. Though not within the fell country of the Lake District, the mountains loom close by and many parts of the village have views Skiddaw, the fourth highest peak of the range, a Furth Munro rising to 3,053 feet to the south-east, some ten miles away.
Railway
Baggrow railway station was a stop along the Bolton Loop of the Maryport and Carlisle Railway which used to run through the village serving the Brayton Knowle Colliery[1] here, and the mine at nearby Mealsgate.
The line has been dismantled but evidence of its existence and its use can be seen along the route.[2]
