Bardsey Island

Bardsey Island lies two miles off the Llŷn peninsula of westernmost Caernarfonshire. The island forms both the southernmost and the westernmost point of the county. It is about 440 acres in extent, and despite its modest size it is the fourth-largest offshore island in Wales.

In the Middle Ages the island held a monastery and was a pilgrimage destination: it became known as 'the island of 20,000 saints'. (Read more)
