Alstone is a village in Gloucestershire which has become a suburb or the swelling town of Cheltenham.
Alstone is listed in the Domesday Book, recorded as having two mills on the River Chelt.
By the nineteenth century, Alstone had been dubbed 'Alstone Spa' to mark the mineral waters there, which attracted visitors. Growth of the village however and that of its neighbouring town, Cheltenham, ensured that Alstone was soon subsumed into the town.
