Rosside is a small village in Lancashire, on the outskirts of Ulverston. The village consists of around 15 houses, all contained in a compact area. Rosside is part of the Ulverston parish, as are the neighbouring villages of Pennington, Swarthmoor and Loppergarth.
Geography
From Rosside there are views across Morecambe Bay, and the village is in close proximity to the Hoad Monument, Chapel Island, Ulverston, Swarthmoor and Barrow-in-Furness.
Rosside is loosely split into two areas, 'Little' (La'al) Rosside and 'Great' Rosside; two groups of buildings split by the stream running through the village, which is fed by the Barton reservoir at the Spade Forge. The stream has been the topic of heated debate between the Rosside Village Community Association and Ulveston Town Council after the localised flooding of 2010, which left six houses' lower levels flooded costing a reported £4,000 in damage. The group had been campaigning for small scale hard flood defences to be erected around the entire village,
