Bedwellty is an ancient parish in the far north-west corner of Monmouthshire against the borders with Brecknockshire and Glamorgan. It is adjacent to the parishes of Aberystruth and Mynyddislwyn. It extends many miles along the Rhymney and Sirhowy rivers and encompasses the populous valley towns of Tredegar and Ebbw Vale.[1]
