Sgùrr na Ruaidhe is a mountain on the border of Ross-shire with Inverness-shire, which reaches a height of 3,258 feet at its summit, and so it qualifies as a Munro. Its name means "Peak of Redness".
Sgurr na Ruaidhe is part of a group of four Munros that lie to the north of Glen Strathfarrar and east of Loch Monar; Sgurr na Ruaidhe, Càrn nan Gobhar, Sgùrr a' Choire Ghlais and Sgùrr Fhuar-thuill. The four can be climbed in one outing as they are all connected by a series of ridges and cols, or the expedition can be divided across a couple of days or more. Sgurr na Ruaidhe is the most eastern Munro of the group and will usually be the first Munro climbed if climbing these four in one round.
The summit is rounded with an array of ridges joining from all directions. The main ridges run northwest to a high col at the head of Coire na Sleaghaich and onto adjoining Munro, Càrn nan Gobhar. The southwest ridge leads down to the bowl of Coire Mhuillidh and then south to join up with Glen Strathfarrar. This is the normal route of ascent for this group of Munros.
While Sgurr na Ruaidhe is not the most interesting of the group, it conjures the imagination with its sheer remoteness. Getting here requires a long walk in from Inchmore off the A831 to the east.
