The Isle of Dogs lies in southeastern Middlesex within the Greater London conurbation. It was formerly a true island; bounded to the west, south and east by a sharp meander in the River Thames, it was once separated from the mainland to the north by the West India Dock, however it is now connected by a small strip of infilled land.
