Spanby is a village in Kesteven, the south-western part of Lincolnshire, about five miles south of the town of Sleaford.
The Domesday Book of 1086 lists the village as "Spanebi", recording that it had 12 households.[1]
The church in the village, St Nicholas, is a red-brick building built in 1882 on or near the site of an earlier church dating from the 13th century. It is a Grade II listed building. However, the church was declared redundant by the Diocese of Lincoln in 1973, and is now used as a shed. The door to the vestry dates from the 14th century.[2][3]
