Foston is a hamlet in the North Riding of Yorkshire, a mile east of Thorton-le-Clay, and just north of the A64 York to Malton road.
Despite its tiny size, there is a small church in the hamlet, All Saints'.[1] The Rev Sydney Smith, the renowned early nineteenth century writer and philosopher, was incumbent here between 1809 and 1828.
