Glenbervie
Glenbervie is a parish in central Kincardineshire. As well as the hamlet of Glenbervie the parish contains the village of Drumlithie. This picturesque rural area is the location of Glenbervie House and estate.
It is bounded on the west by the Water of Bervie and Fordoun; on the east by Dunnottar and Fetteresso; on the south and south-east by Arbuthnott; and on the north by the hills of Strachan and Durris. The population in 2011 was 700.
The present parish church was built in 1826. The ruined former kirk, which was dedicated to St Michael the Archangel, is now the Glenbervie Aisle, the burial vault of the lairds of Glenbervie. It is also the final resting place of the great grandparents of the noted Scottish poet Robert Burns.
The Aberdeen railway from Montrose passes through the parish. There was with an intermediate station at Drumlithie, which closed in 1956. There was also a goods station at Newmill to the north of the parish. Today the nearest stations are at Stonehaven and Laurencekirk.
