Loch Builg is a high tarn in Banffshire, lying on the saddle between Ben Avon to the west and Brown Cow Hill to the east.
The Builg Burn issues from the loch, and soon falls into the River Avon.
The loch is beside a watershed; its own waters drain north to the Moray Firth by way of the River Avon, whilst the burns running off the same saddle at the same height but yards to the south drain to the River Gairn and thence to the North Sea by way of the River Dee. The watershed marks the boundary of Banffshire with Aberdeenshire, which is therefore drawn along the south shore of the loch.
